Detroit Center Upgrades of 2012 Continue
Since the beginning of 2012, the University of Michigan Detroit Center has been going through a series of upgrades in order to deliver visitors, faculty, staff and students the best overall experience possible.
While many changes have been happening behind the scenes, others have been more noticeable. Whether it’s been at the facility or on the web, the Detroit Center is excited to share with you the upgrades that have been made, and those that are still to come.
CONFERENCE ROOMS
The Detroit Center completed technology upgrades to its Ann Arbor and South Studio conference rooms. The Ann Arbor room is now equipped with a video conference system, which allows direct, face-to-face communication with U-M’s Ann Arbor campus. The South Studio and Ann Arbor conference rooms have also been upgraded with high-definition (HD) video projection systems.
In the summer of 2012, the Ann Arbor and Dearborn conference rooms will be furnished with new carpeting; updating the original carpet in both rooms.
MAIN LOBBY
The main lobby of Detroit Center is also getting a minor facelift. The help desk is going to be relocated and refurnished. Its new location will be on the adjacent wall to its current position, allowing the Detroit Center to better serve its guests and use space more efficiently.
TECHNOLOGY
The Detroit Center has also made a renewed investment in its technology. In addition to the conference room upgrades, the Detroit Center also purchased an HD video camera. The video camera now allows the Center to record and share lectures, speaker series, panel discussions and much more. The Detroit Center also purchased audio production equipment; paving the way for enhanced website audio, including podcasts of select Detroit Center events, interviews and much more.
WEBSITE
One of the biggest changes in 2012 has been to the Detroit Center website. With its visitors in mind, the Detroit Center has redesigned it’s main navigation menu into four, easy to browse categories; “U-M in Detroit,” “Facilities,” “Partners,” and “Center Info.” Two links have also been added to the main page for easy navigation of conference rooms and availability.
In addition, the Detroit Center has also made a commitment to social media, bringing you audio, video, pictures, news and more through Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Tumblr; all conveniently located in our “Connect” section of the Detroit Center website.
Through these upgrades, the Detroit Center continues its commitment to the University and Detroit communities, as well as the mission of the U-M Detroit Center.
